Bath Spa University – provided a poster display supporting the work carried out by Professors Ted Bryant and Simon Haslett in investigating the possibility of a tsunami on the Bristol Channel and which was the subject of the BBC Timewatch programme. The Association of Lave Net Fishermen – this organisation provided and excellent display of artefacts and historical photographs illustrating their ancient art of fishing for salmon in the shallow tidal pools of the Severn. Sonorex Limited – this organisation carried out a geophysical survey in the local area in 2006. They were investigating a rather older event, millions of years ago, that may have trapped some interesting hydrocarbons at depth under the locality. They provided a poster display with illustrations and description of their work. Certain other organisations were not able to be present but supplied abundant leaflets and other material which was freely available to visitors. These included CADW and The Severn Estuary Partnership. There was also a display of the work of the Magor School children whose artwork illustrated their ideas of the Great Flood. Finally, and not the least appreciated, SARA, the Severn Area Rescue Association set up their tent and displayed their rescue boat outside the hall on the Friday. As they are on constant alert to respond to incidents they were not able to be present every day. Grateful thanks are given to all the exhibitors, organisers and other helpers for their support and efforts over a very well received event. |
